Michael and Son's Fine Jewelry: Victorian House Member Feature

There is one thing most married couples will truly take away from their wedding day. Of course you have photos, video, and memories, but the only thing you will surely see each day are your wedding bands.

What if your fiance did not buy your engagement ring in a set? Or it is an heirloom? It can be very difficult to find a band that matches the beauty of your unique engagement ring. Michael & Son's Fine Jewelry is the perfect solution. In addition to their extensive selection of engagement rings and wedding bands, they have the ability to custom make items. You can bring in your engagement ring and work with their designers to create the exact piece you want. This sounds expensive. Don't fret, Michael and Son's is able to work within your budget to help you achieve the look you want.

Michael and Son's also has a wide variety of unique men's wedding bands. They even carry camouflage bands and other great options for the man who isn't particularly thrilled about classic jewelry.

Stop by their store located on the Reno Sparks Indian Colony or online to see all they have to offer.

How do you make a great first impression on your wedding guests? By making the first thing they see absolutely beautiful. The first thing your guests will see will be Save the Dates and Invitations. There are tons of options out there from DIY to Letterpress, but even with such a variety it can be difficult to find something that feels just right. A wedding invitation that not only conveys information, but displays the feel of your wedding and your personalities.

If only you could just pick and choose elements from invites you like to create just what you want. The Stylish Scribe can do just that. Jessica provides a custom design experience at a cost that makes her work accessible to anyone. The process can be as simple as selecting a design from one of her collections, or a consultation can be set up to create an invitation that is truly one of a kind. All About the Music DJ: Victorian House Member Feature

KC Bouchard of All About the Music DJ, has been spinning tunes professionally since 1988. His experience as a wedding and event DJ is best explained in his own words and the words of his clients and other professionals he works with.

"I have presided over more than 650 wedding receptions and hundreds of other parties and corporate events. That means there are more than 1300 people out there that I introduced for their first dance, watched cut their cake, and counted down as they tossed their flowers and garters. But more importantly, there are over 1300 people out there for whom I was able to make their reception all they had dreamed and more. It has been a privilege to be invited to be a part of all these special days and it is an honor and responsibility that I take very seriously...I believe that a good DJ should be able to get the dance floor packed by the music he plays, not by corny gimmicks or desperate urging."
Quote from KC Bouchard

"We hired KC as our wedding DJ and could not have made a better choice. He was recommended by friends in town who used his services last summer and I'm glad we listened. He took the time to meet with us and get a feeling for our personalities and helped to give us ideas of where to start music wise. Together we compiled a wedding profile with all of the music we wanted to hear (and didn't want to hear!). Day of, as the bride, I had could barely spare a minute to say hello before the ceremony, but everything went as smooth as possible! At the reception, he got everyone out on the dance floor and even stayed over the allotted time since everyone was having such a great time. You won't go wrong working with All About the Music...whatever the occasion may be!"

"KC from All About the Music DJ is so easy to work with. He does a great job of keeping our events on schedule and getting everyone on the dance floor. Not only is KC very easy to work with and always on time, he does exactly what an MC should do; guide the party without being overbearing. We love working with KC!"

As reviewers say, you can't go wrong hiring All About the Music for your wedding or event. KC truly strives to provide the best experience for his clients and their guests. Contact KC here for more info and to book.

Bright Indian Wedding: featured tablescape of the month

This month's featured tablescape is a vibrant Indian theme. The mix of bright pink, orange and teal look great against the purple linens and the touches of gold really convey the Indian feel. This exotic look could be used by couples of any heritage to add some spice to their big day.

The best grilled cheese you'll ever have!

Here in Reno we are lucky enough to have the GourMelt Grilled Cheese Truck. It is a spectacular food truck that provides restaurant quality grilled cheese sandwiches and more. In addition to the variety of sandwiches on the menu like my favorite the UltiMelt (Cheddar, fontina, cream cheese on sourdough with a garlic Parmesan crust), they always have a great special to try ranging from sweet takes on the grilled cheese and even soups.

The third Thursday of each month GourMelt stops at The Victorian House at 216 Stewart Street in Reno (just behind the Discovery Museum) from 11am till 2pm. Great time to stop by to check out all The Victorian House vendors offer and eat a super yummy grilled cheese sandwich. Hope to see you there soon.

Best Wedding Tips for 2013 - Part 2

#8 Toss it: Ask your florist to create a toss bouquet, designed especially for this ritual. It won't cost much and you'll be able to keep the flowers you carried down the aisle to press or preserve.

#12 Staying Organized: As you receive your response cards from guests, store them alphabetized in a recipe card box. Record the guest's address on the back of each RSVP card. When opening your presents, pull each guest's card and write a description of the gift. When you are ready to write thank you notes, you'll have all the information you need in one place.

#18 Destination Dos
: If your having a wedding away, send out save the date cards as soon as you know the date and location. This way, guests have ample opportunity to arrange for time off, book flights, and make hotel arrangements.

The Victorian House Chapel

We are proud to announce The Victorian House will now have a chapel space. In addition to the event vendor services available at The Victorian House, we also offer an intimate wedding ceremony location in our main room. The comfortable home like atmosphere and proximity to downtown make it a great alternative to more traditional wedding chapels in the area. Here are some photos of the beautiful options our chapel has to offer. Click here for pricing info.

Best Wedding Tips for 2013

To start of 2013 I will be giving you the 101 Best Wedding Tips from Bridal Guide. Over the next weeks I will post my favorite of their tips to help you plan your big day. Check back for more.

#3 Guest list logistics: As you assemble your unedited list, ask everyone involved (you, your partner, and both sets of parents) to develop his or her own "wish" list by ranking the names on their rosters from most to least important. After you've determined the realistic number of guests your budget can accommodate, you can ask everyone to simply cut an assigned percentage of names from his or her list, starting from the bottom.

#7 Getting around: One detail you certainly won't want to overlook is how your attendants will get to the wedding and back. A common snafu: On the return trip, couples only arrange for their own transportation, forgetting that the attendants who arrived at the wedding in their limo will need another way to get home.

Twenty Mile House: a beautiful historic all inclusive wedding venue

We recently had the pleasure of visiting Twenty Mile House, a beautiful historic location amidst the Northern California Sierra Nevada Mountains.  Built in 1854 as a stagecoach stop, the Twenty Mile House has been in operation as a train stop and now wedding venue since.

This venue is unique because it offers all inclusive packages with wedding venue, food, and guest lodging all contained on the 200 acre private estate. The main building is a larger home with a full kitchen, living room, and bedrooms. There are also 3 more intimate cabins on the property perfect for the bride to get ready in or your wedding night.

Because the property is so spacious, there are many ceremony and reception options. They vary from a paved patio and dance floor outside the historic general store to a riverside ceremony and dinner on the grass. The property owners are happy to work in just about any space you would like. The property also provides a myriad of breathtaking scenic photo spots throughout.

In addition to being a beautiful historic wedding venue with all inclusive options, Twenty Mile House is also eco friendly. They are a Green America Approved Business and a Carbon Free Partner with Carbonfund.org

There really is no other location like the Twenty Mile House with it's roots in history, beautiful wedding spaces, and ease of being all inclusive. Contact Kevin for more information or a site tour.
